I worked for the neighbor every summer starting after 8th grade, and a D14 was his baling tractor. Once you got the hang of it, the "Power Director" was really handy- combination hand clutch, hi-lo and live PTO. I really liked that tractor- one of the smoothest running I've seen, before or since.
He also had a JD 40, which I wasn't so thrilled with. But one day I got there and he said "Go down to the shop and bring up the green tractor". When I opened the door, the "green tractor" was a brand new, shiny Oliver 550 diesel! I still have the mental picture of my first sight of it. I got it started and figured out the gearshift enough to back out, and my grin was so wide that he started laughing when I got close enough for him to see. He used to sell me pick of the registered Angus heifers for auction sale prices every summer. He was a great guy- RIP Bob Thomsen.
