I have been following your posts for quite a while, and I know just about exactly what you are doing on a daily basis , as I am doing the same work. Milk cows are very nice creatures to work with, but it is a demanding life, and right now , the financial rewards just don't match the work load, or the capital investment. I understand that you have a young family, and need to provide for them. If your folks are not ready to commit to some kind of succession plan, on paper , then I think you have little choice but to do as you plan. As you have pointed out , you could stay and work another ten years on your folks farm , and still have nothing more than you have today, but keeping the farm operating could make the farm more valuable for others later. I feel bad for you having to make this decision, but life can bring us many hard choices . All the best , Bruce
