Years back I worked for a manufacturer driving fork trucks. Late one night a delivery arrived, and the driver came in, handed me a hundred bucks, then stated he was a bit early, but wanted to get off loaded so he could get home at a reasonable hour. He had a few hours into Nebraska as I remember. He was about six hours early per schedule. He about fell over when I gave him his money back and said no problem unloading. I'd have gotten fired if I'd taken it and management found out. We were not a union shop. It was just natural for many of us to jump from one machine to another IF we knew how to run it to help out. Different strokes for different folks. I could never live with the union garbage some of the others mentioned.
