Ok, turns out I was wrong about the plug configuration on my welders. I finally unplugged the old Smith Roles 180 arc welder to have a look and was surprised to see it has the exact same config as the new Lincoln wire welder. I was so sure it had the old crowfoot plug. Maybe at some point in the past 45 years we changed it over to the new style. Or not? Whatever, it eliminates one problem. I can plug in the new one and weld. But I still need to make an extension cord. Or buy one. Got a spare outlet already for one end.
