THE SAME HERE... I heat up a old screwdriver red hot and melt the lock tab's.
"My question is, if I replace these connectors with a conventional clamp, will the hose slip off as there isn't a flair at the end of the fitting I connect to?"
Dunno I always go back with a genuine OEM GM hose and don't worry about it for another 15 years... BTW aftermarket hoses for them are just plain JUNK!
I think you can buy just the quick locks slip them on and clamp a hose to them.. I don't do that type of chitty work YMMV...
