Hydraulic Cylinder rebuild cost???

I have a 3 pt. hitch backhoe and I recently removed one of the small hydraulic cylinders which swings the boom from side to side because it was leaking. It is approx. 1-1/2" diameter, 12" long, single acting cylinder.

I took it to a shop and they "repacked" it and charged me $145. At that price, to repack all the cylinders on the backhoe would cost more than I paid for it. Is that a reasonable price? Is it something that can be done yourself? I need to read up on the topic.
