I have a 5230. While I've had no major issues with it, the electrical/hydraulic/shift has been a nightmare. I only bought this tractor because I know a young fellow who was with CaseIH, and has all the factory service, and update info. on these tractors. The first thing he did was change the power shift module, which fried because of a bad ground. He knew just exactly which little pin connecter, out of a whole bunch, to go after and replace. Turns out they have little brown ground wires all over this tractor, for dedicated grounds for different functions. The problem is, if the main battery ground becomes compromised, the whole system tries to ground through some of these little wires, and fries them.
There are three, I think, "diode packs" which look like 5 or 6 wire connector ends, but don't go anywhere. They plug into various harnesses, on the right side, under the cab. I have replaced two of them. They affect three point operation.
I have replaced about every solenoid, except for the power shift ones. Forward/reverse/MFWD/PTO/diff lock/etc.
None of this was done with the shotgun approach. Each was checked out with the service info and replaced as necessary.
My guy recently installed a dedicated power supply, up under the dash, for the power shift. It didn't help. What it's doing is now with a heavy load on the three point, the power shift quits working!! He's found some obscure service info on some kind of electrical fix, which blocks the draft sensing(which is electrical) from affecting the power shift! That will be installed before spring work begins.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
