Do you really want to have an honest discussion devoid of emotion on this Elton? That's fine by me. Bazookas? No. The 2nd Amend applies to those arms commonly carried or used by the individual soldier, at least according to the scholars that have researched it. Back in the day that meant long gun, pistol, knife, sword, axe, pike, lance, etc. Not cannon, war ships, etc. Bringing that up to contemporary days, that means those same things, but not crew served guns, bombs, aircraft carriers, etc.
Now, how do you keep the guns out of the hands of crackpots without usurping the rights of the law abiding individual? By developing a mental health screening system that's effective! We don't do anything like that currently. If we did, we wouldn't have 2/3 of the gun deaths in the US annually being suicide, teen suicide wouldn't have jumped 70% over 10 years and we wouldn't have had the Parkland, Columbine, Sandy Hook or any of the other school shootings. But we don't do that because we have laws saying crazy people can walk the streets! Tell me, if it's wrong to institutionalize a nut because it's not his fault he's crazy and wants to kill people and that it would be depriving him of his Constitutional rights, then how can it possibly be right to deprive the sane people who don't want to kill someone of their rights to protect themselves from the nut? It time to say the heck with HIPPA laws and all the other garbage laws that protect the insane and start dealing with the crazies out there. I had a co-worker shot because our mental health system released a violent nut into our community and didn't say a thing to anyone about it. Nothing has improved in the 2 or 15 years since that happened.
As far as the teachers, it's obvious we need to train them. If they want to be armed then we train them, just like we train cops. It's not that hard. We keep the guns in lockboxes, train the teachers/staff and keep training them. It's pretty simple.

The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
