Eldon no joke I completed this last week. I have been cleaning things up for the last few years. I have gotten rid of most of the project tractors/equipment that I had. If I had not touched it in the last two years I sold it. I had things that I had owned for over 20 years and had never found the time to fix/repair/restore.
The majority of the parts I had left where things you would rarely need. I parted out a LOT of JD 3020 and 4020s in the mid 1990s. I could buy the early ones for $3500-4500 all day long. This was for a running tractor. I could get $2500 for a running diesel motor. The left hand remote setup with all the lines and linkage would run $1000. Sell a good hood for $500 rear fenders for $400. So pretty soon you had a profit and had lost of stuff to still sell.
I had one whole end of a barn loft that had JD 3020 and 4020 frame rails. I bet that I had 30-40 sets. I have only seen 3-4 broke in my life. I had one shed full of fuel tanks. I might have sold 5-10 in my life time. I bet I had 25-30 of them left. Dash panels. Steering columns. Things you just rarely need. I counted 16 front steering motors and housing for 4020s. Some time you might need a motor housing be hardly never the entire front casting.
I now have one 40x80 barn and loft empty. It was full a month ago. I shipped out right at 95 tons of scrap. I bet I could get another 75 if I really got serious about it.
