Nicholas,So Far I Dont think Anyone described Your Model 37 Massey Rake engaging mechanism .I have a model 37. If Your rake is still a virgin ," Not buggered with" ,facing the rear of your rake on the left hand side at knee height on the drive shaft . there is a sliding 8 inch ring collar about 1 inch wide with a button , By depressing the button you should be able to slide the ring 2 inches to another loking slot.this movement allows the drive dogs to move away from the catch cogs on the hub of the drive shaft which the ring should be a part of. btw .oil makes everything work easier.. AND ! The Chains ought to be removed for fast or Long distance Transport ,Failure to do so,WILL sooner or later result in None Of These above described parts to be present on your rake , Guess How I Know?
