Mom made me wait until 16 to get my license, just after my Sophomore year. First car-1972 Toyota LandCruiser FJ40.
Between seventh and eighth grades, Dad took me to the farmers from church who needed help in the berry patches. The Grandpa actually looked at my teeth before he would say okay! Had to ride my bike 3.5 miles to get there by 0530 (flat ground, not uphill both ways).
First job of the day was to warm up the GMC 6500 tandem and drive it out to the proper field we would be picking from that day. Five speed and split rear end with air brakes. Take my bike along, ride a mile or two back to the barn, bring out a pickup or forklift as needed. Dad said what Mom didn't know wouldn't hurt her. It didn't.
