Farmer, the song does refer to a mixed race girl, but never heard it was the girl Santa Anna was with.
The original song was written in the 1850's by a slave looking for a lost lover. It has been cleaned up, as it would not be PC today.
It has been recorded by many artists over the years.
But legend has it Santa Anna was literally caught with his pants off, enjoying the services of a "lady". The rest of the men were also caught unaware of the advancing army, taking a day off, thinking they were no longer in harms way because of their recent victories.
