150 horses will pull it but only 2"or 2.5" deep. Four or five inches is a whole different story but A field cultivator is not built heavy enough to withstand constant 5 inch depths anyway if it will even go that deep. At three inches deep 180 horses is OK, 200 will pull it in any conditions at three inches deep. I pulled my 30' 960 Deere field cultivator with 7" sweeps with a 165 HP 4650 Deere for a few years and it did OK at 3' deep at 5.5 MPH but it was using every pony. There was no extra power for the tough spots. Then I pulled it with a CIH 215 (215 HP) for a year. The 215 handled it at 6 MPH but I could tell it was working fairly hard to pull it. Now for the past two years I've rented a Deere 8430 running somewhat under 300 HP to pull it and it just breezed along at 6 MPH.
