Well that amount of inflation sounds about right. five years ago I paid $5300 for mine for my 8240. The service manager said no way that I would have to pay that much. He said that he would find a rebuilt or a used one. After a few days of hunting he said that he had to go with new because the housings always wear enough that a rebuild doesn't last. Maybe you can get a used or rebuilt and trade it off soon.
