I went to an auction yesterday of the machinery from a farmer who died four years ago. It was only 2 miles from my house. I was startle by some of the prices, but on an auction you never know. Most of the stuff was still sitting where it was parked when he died.
A D19 Allis, gas burner with narrow front, that I was interested in was rough cosmetically but started right up went for $3400. I bid to $2200 and said to heck with it.
A WD with a junk trip bucket loader sitting in the trees and obviously not run for many years went for $800. A styled WC without a loader next to it brought $700. An unstyled WC missing parts and one front wheel went for $900.
An AC snap coupler 9' blade sold for $800. A snap coupler 3x14 plow went for $500. A pull type 3 bottom plow, make unknown, went for $400.
A Massey 510 non running combine sold for $900, while an identical 510 sitting next to it that started right up and ran nice went for $800. Figure that out.
His main tractor wasn't on the sale. As I recall, it was a large MF with a V8 diesel. Most of his field machinery was sized accordingly, and I didn't stay to watch that stuff sell.
Like I said, most of the stuff was sitting where it was parked when he died, and some 'way longer ago than that.
My total expenditure was a dollar for a cup of coffee.
