I have successfully replaced the head gasket on my 1972 MF 135 (UK version) Perkins diesel and the tractor is running. It will crank right up each time BUT I do not have the AIR filter housing end cap, the old one deteriorated and I have one on order. My question is: I am currently using the tractor without the housing end cap on the air filter canister and while using the tractor - it makes a very loud thumping sound through the air breather unit. You cannot ride it without ear plugs I know I need the end cap - but is this strong sound normal or is there anything I might have done wrong during the replacement of the head gasket that would cause this loud noise coming from the air breather canister assembly? It literally sounds like a tractor without an exhaust manifold - loud thumping/popping coming from the air breather canister. Also, while running it seems like the tractor has lost some power as it takes a little time for it to rev up when I throttle up to full throttle? Anyone ever had this issue? JON
