I agree with Ed. You probably have a seedling tree or a "stranger" as our old german arborist would say. Do you know the source of the tree? From a nursery? Everything you're doing should make good peaches. Thorough pruning in March, 1/2 to 1 lb. of nitrogen (plus P & K) per year in 2-3 applications and thinning by June down to about 400 fruit per tree max.
