Showcrop I have been known to stir the pot. In fact years ago a guy at work gave me the CB handle of "Spoon".
I am also willing to admit when I am wrong. But only with proof. Not your I did it and never got a ticket. Proof in black and white.
I think neither apply here.
As far as this lawn mower. Yes we are just funning around. But if we want to talk equipment over 10,000 lbs then yes you need 4 separate tie downs. Not using both ends of 1 chain as 2 tie downs.
Yes I know it is crazy because you are not exceeding the link capacity of any chain link; and as Royse said if you cut 1 link out of the center slack area of the chain and made it 2 chains you would be legal. But I do not write the laws. I only read what is written.
So now I have given you a direct quote from § 393.130(c)1 and Royse has said a DOT officer warned him about it. And what have you guys given. I think someone was making quota and I hauled a lot of tractors and combines out of JD factories.
I am willing to learn by being shown wrong. So show it to me in black and white.
And while we are on the subject. I will ask another question in a new post. Lets see what you guys answer to it.
