Think Deere called them a Gyro-mower. Looks similar to the 6 ft Brillion rotary mowers everyone in our neighborhood had. The Brillion had couple features that made them popular, wheels could bolt on lift rockshaft in forward position like that Deere, or behind mower with tires behind mower or outside mower cut. Ours was always behind mower inside the cut area. Had mounts for 3x8 hyd cylinder, Dad added an adjustable heighth stop so you could lower to same level every time. The PTO shaft with only 2 universal joints really hammered on short turns. The right side unbolted and came off, Dad modified our's and the neighbor's so the diagonal side between right side and rear side came off, and we mowed hay with it, never plugged up like sickle mower! When chopping stalks or mowing hay I would make wide turns so the pto didn't hammer so bad.
