True, but as an example, we were in a single-vehicle accident a few years back. Lost control of our trailer, which happened to have my small tractor on it. The trailer ended up rolling, but didn't break away from the truck until that last second before we finally came to a stop. If the tractor had come loose, who knows who else might have been injured?
I had multiple straps, multiple chains, and even one 1/2" chain holding that thing down! *lol*
Now, afterwards, I found that while the trailer was upside down, it must have slid for a ways as the very top links of the highest chain and straps had been road-rubbed. Most of the straps rubbed in two, but that 3/8" chain held, even though it was just a hair more than halfway through the thickness of the links.
In fact, at first neither of us could understand that the trailer had ever left its wheels, as the whole load was tied down SO well that it barely even moved.
