Sounds as if your owner's manual has a typo. AC88L would be an AC plug, number 88L. Your manual probably was giving numbers for both Champion and AC plugs and somehow it got run together. If you go to the website www.antiquetractors.com/, you can click on their sparkplug guide. According to this chart, AC 88L plugs were the equivalent of Champion 10 COM plugs at that time period. The modern Champion replacement is Champion D-23. If you want your tractor to start dependably, go to an Auto-Lite plug. I have to agree with the guys who are telling you not to use Champion. Champions just foul out too easily. Just out of curiousity, what plugs did you take out of your tractor [brand and number]?
