I have run both starting with 2-8-9n's in 1960. Dad bought a 420 in 1963. If you buy the 8n you will regret it as long as you have it. The 420 is a great little tractor, decent brakes something 99% of 8n's don't have. Dads was a utility with wide front, 3 point, 34" rear rubber. Always started, something 8 n's arn't good at. Look at the 2-8-9n ford site. We lived 1-3/4 miles from the ford dealer. I cannot begin to count the number of times we drug 1 of them to the ford dealer because it wouldn't start. We drug 1 in to get the brakes worked on. The guy that had been a ford mechanic for years told me " Henry made the brakes on these things to be a little better than those on a horse drawn wagon". I believe him, I have been pushed down hill, drug backwards down hill because they are pretty much useless. These things were owned buy our neighbor who had Alzheimer's. He insisted we use them to cut, rake, and bale hay. I could continue this for a long time but I think you get the picture. 8n's bring at most $1200.00 if they run.

Cylinders are the reason for the hydraulic circuit. They take the fluid power delivered from the pump and magically change it into mechanical power. There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
