We had 80-100 foot strips. Sometimes a mile or more long. Always cut backwards or counter clockwise first and then clockwise. Most fields were five nine foot passes with a foot or two left. Contour strips would occasionally have a triangle shaped piece. 130 or so acres on four cuts. Twelve foot was less Never had too much trouble with the 990,1190 or the discbine. The pt 10 didn’t like it very well. It all depends on how wet it was when cutting. Dad was doing it that way from the sickle mower up until the year 2000 when I left farming.
