Ask a question about trouble shooting an electrical problem. Or fuel system problem. Lots of people have some knowledge of these issues. You start getting into hydraulics some of us have knowledge of specific systems but there are few who really know hydraulics.
Now this question doesn't really tell you much so you are shooting in the dark trying to answer it. The OP doesn't tell us what it will lift. Or how fast. Just states "doesn't life very well". Is that doesn't life very well at or below what it's rated for? Or is the OP trying to lift 2X it's capacity? For example is the OP trying to lift #2000 round bales with it? Is the OP expecting a tractor that old to perform as well as a modern tractor that's the same physical size?
Specs for the loader are:
Loader type: International Harvester 1501
Weight: 558 lbs [253 kg]
Clearance, dumped bucket: 84 inches [213 cm]
Breakout force (at pin): 2400 lbs [1088 kg]
Lift to full height (at pin): 1700 lbs [771 kg]
Bucket width: 40 inches [101 cm]
In other words it's not a very robust loader at best. Plus the B414 really isn't that robust of a tractor.
So without additional information from the OP it's kinda a difficult question to answer.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
