At the township (Im a twp. trustee) we have a NH 4835 tractor, used for mowing ditches. Im not a new holland tractor guru. In fact this is the second or third one I ever sat on.
It has the reverser, control located on left side of tractor.
Last summer, one of the guys were out mowing, and it "quit moving". He/they towed it to the garage, parked it in our barn. Convieniently did not mention it....(we have three mowing tractors, this is a 'spare', does not get used as much. That employee is no longer with the TWP, we went to use the tractor and discovered it will not move.....a couple phone calls got us the story that he was mowing, it quit moving, he towed to the shop and put in the barn.
When attempting to operate it, it will slightly, I mean SLIGHTLY attempt to pull in reverse, like barely rock the tractor.
Nothing in forward.
The reverser lever has a detent and you can clearly feel forward and reverse detents.
Anyone have experience with this? Is it a split the tractor deal or can you remove top cover and get to it that way?
Im thinking it is the shifting fork broke off....were thinking of doing it in house. One of the other Trustees is a farmer also, and we are both pretty handy with a wrench....Looking to see how big a job it is

It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro
