Back when I first started welding it was a very hot summer, we had 10 days or so of 100° weather. We had a job fabricating a plow for a D6 cat for the phone company that would plow fiber-optic cable 6' deal. None were available at that time. Anyway, it was a whole day of cutting and welding on a piece of T-1 steel that was 3'x10'x3" with outside temps near 100 and humidity around 90%. Was brutal work all day, then we had to work late as well. Around 8pm when the sun got low and the first whif of a breeze came along John, my boss headed outside to cool off. Now John was a serious sort, and I had made it my mission to lighten him up. After I finished I saw him out there across the lot and saw my shot. I was completely soaked in sweat from the long hot day. I sat on the tar, scooted across the lot on my backside til I got up to him, looked up and said, "my a** is really dragging tonight"!. He laughed a for real belly laugh over that. Was the only one I got from him in the 30+ years I knew him. I consider it one of my greatest achievements. Lol
