98 degrees and 1700 bales to load for a neighbor. 18 years old. I drank a 1/2 gallon of water per hour. After about 6 hours and 1500 bales I started to cramp up and I asked if the friend that was running the loads to the barn could help me finish. We had 2 empty racks to finish.
Friend told the boss that he would help load cause there was 5 of them in the barn. Dad was setting the fork and an old fellow driving the fork. I about walked out when I heard there was 5 in the barn but I stayed and finished loading with help.
We got to the barn and then I left. When dad got home he asked if I was mad. I said not till I found out there was 5 in the barn.
Couple days later neighbor came to pay me. Asked what he owed me. I said what did you pay the guys in the barn. $2 a hour was the reply. All I said was I handled every bale those 5 did. He paid me $10 a hour. I was no longer mad.
