I can understand that some people don't want to spend all day waiting around for the slow stragglers that top out at 5-6-7 MPH. An hour drive with a more modern tractor turns into 3-4 hours with something that can't go very fast.
A pleasant morning ride turns into an endless all-day affair for the event organizer; everyone else has loaded up and left while he gets to sit there waiting for your slow arse to cross the finish line. BTDT. Even better if you had to arrange for special permission, police escorts, traffic direction, etc. such as the Mackinac Bridge crossing.
