: I have a 62 Ford 2000. We have four inches of snow on the ground and I'm ready to put it up for the first winter that I've owned it. It's in a barn at this point. What are the standard things that need to be done. Any help would be great. Thanks. If your tractor sits unused for a long period during cold temperatures, there is a chance that the battery could lose it's charge and freeze. A busted battery with acid running everywhere is not a pretty sight. A dead battery can freeze and bust. I would remove the battery and place it somewhere that would offer some protection from freezing temperatures and charge it from time to time.
