Remember how hard it was for Mercedes owners to find diesel until the gas crunch? Also the Perkins engines were a little tempermental if you didn't have a block heater you were out of luck. We towed a Dexta three miles one day hosing in the ether trying to get ot to start. The "n" we towed it with started right off the bat. Diesel was more expensive then too... I seem to remember that if you got your diesel anywhere but a truck stop that the cost was 10 - 13 cents higher than gas. I might be wrong, I remember being young and good looking too. Me
