I was driving by a neighbor" farm after dark in a thunder storm. Lightening hit his barn right as I went by. I was temporarily blinded by the bright flash. As soon as I could see, every single nail in the metal roofing glowing. I turned around and drove to his house. Maybe 3-4 minutes and the barn was fully engulfed. He and not heard the lightening as he had his hearing aids out.
His insurance company as a Butt about his claim. They tried seven different ways to get out of it. They first tried saying that the hay was too green in the barn. Well it had been in the barn for 4 weeks. Green hay starts in a day or so. The his wiring was not correct. He finally had his lawyer write them with statements from myself and the first responding firemen. They finally paid.
I had to look at my policy an it does not say anything about hay storage and equipment storage being not allowed in the same building.
