Is the attachment valve set "closed center" to match the tractor, if NOT, there's going to be a LOT more oil pumping and heating.
The "piston" and "gear" on the adjustment knob affect how the lever detent works, The "piston" represents a hydraulic cylinder, for which the valve lever would "kick out" at the end of the cylinder's stroke, the "gear" represents a hydraulic motor.
If the lever is not "kicking out", where you have it set, that part is OK, otherwise try the outer setting.
As to the hoses popping out, either the hoses are tugging on them under certain conditions, or the male tips are worn where the retaining balls "grab", AND/OR, the $$$ Euro-made coupler barrels are worn out, NOT uncommon, unfortunately.
