Well you have several things going on.
1) The hoses popping is caused by the Barrels being worn on the SCV valve. This is just the part where the hoses hook in. This is a common issue with the Mannheim SCV valves used on the 6000 series tractors. So you will need to replace those barrels that are popping the couplers out.
2) The second issue is the valve turning off when you use the external valve. You do not have the selector set correctly for an external valve. You need to have it turned to the symbol that looks like two gears(#3) running together. This is straight forward. I can not tell by your picture if your valve has this setting or not. They put three levels/quality of valves on the JD 6300 tractor. The lowest one does not have the flow all the time (gear symbol #3) setting.
*Is the valve on the mower a closed center valve??? IF not then you will need to change it.*
3) Flow control. The flow is controlled by the knob(#1) just in front of the function setting knob. How it works confuses some old JD fellows. This knob will turn 8-10 full turns in or out. You can really fine tune the flow. The old JD flow control knows only turned 3/4 of a turn. So fellows some times do not turn the knob enough turns to effect the flow much.
