I had a small wood/coal "parlor stove", shaped tall and narrow. I guess originally it was used to heat the front parlor. I used it for years in my back shop, 12'x18' and not insulated, worked well with wood or coal. Just fired it up before doing some work out there. I replaced it with a small 20,000 BTU natural gas furnace/heater, insulated the roof and have used that ever since. When it gets real cold (and that happens up here) I can't seem to get the warmth out of the gas heater like the old one kicked out. I'd flip back but I sold the old stove. And I know that 20,000 BTU's isn't much of a furnace, I think our gas barbeque is 80,000.
