Most of what I know of Venezuela is about the Oil and Gas industry. They have the largest proven oil reserves of any country on Earth. More than Saudi Arabia... They are extremely wealthy in that respect.
Your previous post encouraged me to do some research about Ag in Venezeula. They have a program of land redistribution, where idle land is seized and redistributed to poor farmers in order to encourage small-scale farming. Sounds like an interesting idea, but apparently it isn't that successful a program.
They also have brought in advisors from Asia to help them design rice fields, and other tropical crop production systems.
