Any car from 1940 to 1958 whether 6v or 12v have field resistance in a range of ~1.5 to 2.2 Ohms & 6v/12v overlap in Ohms, , so by that I say no simple determination. Ford tractors from 1939 thru 1952 (6v) fall at 1.3 to 4.5 Ohms, so same conclusion. A little skeptical of the 4.5 Ohms as it only shows up on two of eight different generators of those tractors. If it is a Delco-Remy, then 6V have a black tag and 12v have a red tag. Generator rebuilder my have more to say.
