And it will be with him the rest of his life. Who knows what that incident may do in the future to help him to decide on a positive course of action to make something of himself. You never know.
I certainly remember my parade participations and surely wasn't as stellar as that. What I do remember are my marching band days and in one instance, my sister and I were in a borrowed '49 Green Dodge P/U that dad was driving with a Reserve Grand Champion steer he had purchased in a trailer behind it and she and I were fighting over who was going to sit next to the window.......she won. Grin.
One of those marching band days was in San Antonio, Tx., year was 1955, and I saw my first '55 Chevy V8, a 2 door sedan painted Salmon and Grey. To this day I still think Chevy in the 3 year'55-57 made some gorgeous cars......and that little 265, 3 on the tree, in 2nd winding out with a pair of glass packs.......still gives me goose bumps. I never had the money to buy one......just "Lusted in my Heart" (Jimmy Carter) for one.
Well in fact I do have one of the series, a Turquoise and White (my favorite of the series so that's the color I painted it, seats, dash, and steering wheel to match.....as was the custom of the day) '57 convertible with the Continental Kit and fender skirts........in 1/25 scale..........

While this may have been the bread and butter of the belt work in the past (since this is what made the money on many farms), the smaller tasks may have been and still can be its real claim to fame. The thresher would bring in the harvest (and income) once a y
