so you've heard it run or your discription is what the seller told you?
are you familiar at all with CASE's? could post this in the CASE section.
not bad little tractors. big brother to the 500 and 400 (small series) and shared alot of parts. that series engine was used in alot of CASE equipment including combines, the later 430, 530, 470,570s, skid loaders and maybe some swathers
if you cannot hear it run hard to say what to listen for. check the fluid in the Case0Matic (COM) for condition and level. same with the trans and differential. if the COM is low and the trans if full (or visaversa) there may be a bad seal between the 2 letting one leak into the other.
is it stored inside or outside? if outside look for open exhaust, i also like to crack drain plugs open a bit (no not remove) enough to see if there is any water or antifreeze that might point to other problems. look for water and or gummy fuel in tank if its been sitting long. look for mice chewing up wires.
if its not running can you throw a battery on it and at least see if its stuck? being a COM you won't be able to pull start it
lots of other stuff too im sure i'm forgetting. fenders are known for rusting out. chrome pieces are expensive to replace. gage clusters are worth alot of $ if in good working order.
it will have Eagle hitch on it unless converted. will work with other standard 3pt stuff but may not lift at quite the same angle.

Today's Featured Article - A Lifetime of Farm Machinery - by Joe Michaels. I am a mechanical engineer by profession, specializing in powerplant work. I worked as a machinist and engine erector, with time spent overseas. I have always had a love for machinery, and an appreciation for farming and farm machinery. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Not a place one would associate with farms or farm machinery. I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo
