I know and love dogs. Am almost never afraid of one. I talk to them, let them get to know me on their terms. I even identify with them. Thus my name here. 97% of the time I can become their friend in short order - even dogs that are considered vicious by most people. The 3%? Those are pitbulls. The breed needs to be eraducated. Totally and completely eradicated. It could be done. Pass ordinances that require a half million dollar -or more- insurance policy to own one. If the cops see a pitbull they can require the owner to show proof of the policy. On the spot! No policy? The pitbull goes to the pound for 48 hours so the owner has time to show proof of PRIOR insurance. After 48 hours the dog is put down. Owner gets arrested. No ifs, ands or buts! That would put the balk on jerks who think they are cool. I know a woman who was nearly killed by a pair of pitbulls. She walked out of her house on a summer day to water her flowers. They attacked her in her yard and tore her up badly. She has permanent scars on her face, neck, arms and legs. She was saved by a neighbor who beat them off of her with a shovel. She had huge medical bills. The owners of the dogs was never found. The authorities killed the dogs. She was asked to testify at the state capital. Had to relive the terror. The state never did anything about the breed. Shame on them! This woman is scarred for life both mentally and physically because some dirtbag thought the breed was cool. Eradicate the breed by making it too expensive to own one. They do not belong in this society.
PS, I think Old could have used a better example but don't think he meant to put down Vietnam vets. Don't let the modern snowflake mentality cloud your thinking.
