A lot of it IS the owners. Many folks don't want those breeds. We had a Rott mix (looked pure bred) that I'm certain would've torn anyone's arm off had they been aggressive towards us. Otherwise, this poor thing was usually scared of her own shadow! *lol*
She was big and strong, and we kept her on a chain that "looked" like we were being cruel. But any time someone would pull into the driveway, she'd get a running start and put that chain to the test. Was funny how extremely mild-mannered that dog was.
Like Ultradog, I'm one who used to be able to walk right up to nearly any dog. Had a sibling that was into hard rock and drugs, and every dog regardless of breed from any of their friends, the dogs were aggressive and mostly unpredictable.....like the owners. Dogs pick up on the mannerisms of their owners. If the owner is scared all the time, maybe the dog will be overly protective. If the owner yells alot, the dog is likely to be aggressive in a bullying way.
I also knew of a purebred Doberman many years ago that was "literally" scared of its own shadow. The owners were good people, but definitely not perfect. So this would suggest that sometimes, there's simply no way to tell how a dog will turn out. But yes, breeds like Pit Bulls do tend to be overly aggressive a lot of the time. Without more information over a much larger percentage of these "problem breeds", I still have to believe that the root of the problem is usually with the owner or the dog's surroundings.

If i said that this was a little frustrating for him that would be "conservative" in fact the problem had reduce
