Another dog story for you guys. Back in the 70s my younger sister dated a fellow. He was a real nice guy - easy going, mild mannered. Was going to college on the GI Bill. I wished she could have kept him but he dumped her after a couple of years. Anyway, he was a black belt kung fu of some sort guy. He never bragged about it or even mentioned it. Ever. I never knew till my sister told me. Had been practicing the art all his life. He wasn't a big guy. Maybe 5'8" 160 lbs. So one day he's walking down the sidewalk. Residential neighbor hood in St Paul. Either a Rott or maybe Dobie attacked him. Out of the blue. He said his reflexes just took over and he flipped the dog somehow then took it's head in his hands and broke it's neck. Dog didn't have a chance. Flip, crack, dead! He called the police and reported it. They came right away as they were looking for that dog because it had attacked a kid only about an hour before. It made the St Paul paper. Police gave him some kind of a citizen's award for it. He and I were born the same day of the same year. It's how I learned what my draft number was - two years after I got out of 4 years in the Navy. It was 22. I always wondered what my # was... He got drafted. I wonder what ever happened to him. Sister turned into a good wife and mother. But her husband is a lesser man. Well, thatt's sort of a dog story. Isn't it?
