Aged tractors were designed with the technology of the day, and that included flat gaskets and some kind of goo to seal it with, Often cork was used. Some leakage was acceptable, and kind of expected. I have never seen a tractor that after 8 years didn't make a drip or two. Farmers repaired them when the lube leaked out fast enough to prevent farming with it. I do not think there is a sealant that will do this outside task. Clean the surface with brake clean spray and use Lexcel clear sealant to give it a try. Over tightening the gaskets is one reason they can begin to leak, so replacing it is the only real method of limiting leaks. Putting a square of cardboard under it also limits concrete stains. This is not a flame of your desire for a leak free tractor, it is just the reality of the age they were made. Jim

The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
