My wife's father was the town fire chief and her other uncles and grandfather have all served an/or are serving. Growing up way out in the country I never really understood how important the FD was until I met my wife. The volunteers and chief are very dedicated and are all top notch. I'm proud to call these people my family.
A side note: my late great-grandfathers and grandmother's best friend who passed away a couple years ago was by far the last surviving founding member of the county's rural volunteer fire department. He was in for around 68-69 years. He was about 94-95 when he passed. Would have loved to have talked to him about that.
