I bought this 845 New Holland baler a while back. Not long after, I noticed the output shaft from the gearbox had been broken off and goober welded back on. The shaft was so out of alignment, it was destroying the inner splines on the cross shaft that coupled to it. It was obvious that both the gearbox and cross shaft were junk. I got to thinking if there was a universal joint in the shaft, it might work. I cut the solid shaft off and spliced in part of an old PTO shaft from my scrap pile. Do you think it will hold? I don't know yet, but all I am out is a few rods and a couple hours.
