Okay, so one of my Case VAC's has a 12 v generator on it, obviously not original. It's a Delco 1102096. Comes back to several mid to late 50's autos. It has never charged so I tore into it. The brushes are pretty worn, but usable. I chucked it up int he lathe and cut the end the brushes ride on ( I forget the correct name for that section) and got the worst of the nicks and gouges out of it. I undercut the mica separations also and cleaned everything up. I tested it (as I know how to do it) and the circuitry appears okay, IOW when you apply power to it, it turns slowly. I cleaned up the voltage regulator that was with it, attached a battery and connected everything up and polarized it. Turning it with a socket and drill it wasn't charging. If I push down on the Batt terminal "points" with the cover off, then it bogs down and acts like it's charging. Put it all back on the tractor and it still doens't charge. I figure at this point it's likely the regulator, but those are pretty expensive these days (last one I bought I paid $75.00!). Was just wondering if I've missed something obvious?
