Mr. Dave, the green thing is a filter. The valve in the bottom of the filter drains it. The next thing is a regulator. It is adjustable from 0 to maximum pressure available. The next thing is an oiler. The thing with the numbers regulates the amount of oil being fed into the cylinder. It takes a very small amount. It is fed in drops and you can see each drop as it falls. The amount of push or pressure is only regulated by the regulator. The flow control valves only regulate speed of the ram. Down speed is controlled by the valve on the bottom of the cylinder. Up speed is controlled by the valve on top of the cylinder. The two push buttons must be pushed in at the same time and held until you wish to reverse the travel of the ram. That is a safety so that you can't injure yourself. That is about it. I hope this makes sense. Steve in Banner, Ms.
