As a kid we would be driving a pickup, turn the key off, wait a few seconds and turn the key back on. That gave time for gas to fill the muffler, shotgun time, big bang. One time the big bang blew the muffler off. Hard time telling dad what happened.
I told this story because your exhaust is full of gas as you crank and crank. Then a spark finally arrives and shotgun big bang.
You have a mag issue. Spark not getting where it's needed on time.
Or you could have an exhaust valve sticking so when you crank and crank you are filling the muffler with gas. Close one of the petcock at a time and crank. If your exhaust valves are not sticking open, it should be very difficult to crank.
In the 1960's I went to an auction when I was in HS and bought a JD H for $100 with 2 row cultivator. Wish I still had it. It was inside barn when barn burnt.
