: I would like to know what size truck to use to pull a trailer with electrical brakes (about 3,000 lbs.) and a tractor that weights about 3,200 lbs. Also if I wanted to pull a tractor that is around 4,500 lbs. later on. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you. : Bob The weight on that trailer sounds a little heavy. You should be able to pull that "rig" with a 1/2 ton.Trans cooler is a must for an automatic! My '98 cevy 3/4 ton is a 8600 gvw, a1/2 ton is about 6200 -6600 depending on suspention options. It is my understanding that gvw is the gross weight of the truck, the tounge weight would factor into this, not towing capacity. Towing capacity ( how much weight you can tow) is a whole differant thing .
