The newest Kubota is the highest hp tractor that I have, I forgot what it is rated at 120, or 130 hp . One time you read engine, the next it says pto hp, and pto is less than engine, both Kubota tractors have more hp. And yes a more comfortable cab too. Guess it is just a head problem for me, up until yesterday, I have always run the harvester, and I am perfectly happy riding the old 966. It runs strong, and has plenty of guts to chop corn or hay. And I have owned it out right free and clear for many years, has very little resale value, and don’t care how many hours go on it, as long as it works, the value stays the same. Can’t say the same about the newer tractors, the more they run, the less their value. This being said, I never hesitate to use them if I need the 4wd, or loader capabilities, just too cheap to put my personal comfort over the perceived cost. Like I said, guess it is just a head problem of mine. We either pull the forage wagons with the 930, or the 1030. Both fair heavy tractors, running in the neighbourhood of 100hp, forage wagons can’t push them around, and easy to get on and off. I figure my cost for harvesting haylage and corn silage to be really only the cost of fuel, and maintenance/repair. Got to be around , 30-40 bucks per acre. Custom rates run $100.00 per acre, or $500.00 per hour. And I realize if I hire custom, I would have less capital cost, but I don’t have more than 20 grand tied up in all of this stuff, and the tractors can be used for many other jobs. Short answer, cause I am cheap !!

Today's Featured Article - Hydraulics - Cylinder Anatomy - by Curtis von Fange. Let’s make one more addition to our series on hydraulics. I’ve noticed a few questions in the comment section that could pertain to hydraulic cylinders so I thought we could take a short look at this real workhorse of the circuit. Cylinders are the reason for the hydraulic circuit. They take the fluid power delivered from the pump and magically change it into mechanical power. There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
