we just put in a 1 ton mini-split heatpump/ac unit.
just parts (unit plus lines, plus mounting base, plus line covers, electric box ect ect ect) was about $2200 WITHOUT installation
luckily i work for the company so the unit was 1/2 price and I put it in but gave an HVAC guy $250 to leak test, purge, vaccum and let the freon out.
probably won't use the heat pump much as we have Nat Gas an high electric but i suspect the heat pump will be more cost effective than the Pellet stove as the pellet stove probably uses just as much electric as the heat pump (22 SEER rating)
so the point is... you can spend alot of money pretty quick.
so all electric you probably have backup coils in the air handler too.
